The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the second cancellation of the summer Vermont Brewers Festival that normally takes place in July on the Burlington waterfront.
This is to the great dismay of the Vermont craft beverage and food community; and of our out-of-state craft beer-loving friends; and of the Vermont Brewers Association and all of its brewery members; and last but not least of the City of Burlington and the State of Vermont and all of the ancillary businesses (hotels, restaurants, merchants, etc.) that benefit financially from this annual tourist extravaganza.
The Brewers Association says, “Like so many industries right now, we have also been affected by COVID-19. This March we were due to host our Vermont Brewers Winter Festival at Killington, and in July our annual festival in Burlington. Both of these annual fundraisers have been cancelled.”
This disappointing news is especially hard for the Brewers Association itself, which relies heavily on funding from the annual summer festival to support its mission of promoting and strengthening the culture of craft brewing in Vermont through marketing, education, and advocacy for Vermont-made beer.
To help the Association get through this difficult time and emerge strong, ready, and enthusiastic to put on fantastic winter and summer festivals in March and July 2022, please go here and consider making a donation to the Association: Vermont Brewers Association
In the meantime, you can continue to support the craft brewers by visiting their breweries and purchasing the world’s best craft beer directly from them. You can find who’s open and when, and what the options are (drive-through, curbside pick-up, home delivery, etc.) by going here: Current Operations | Vermont Brewers Association. And of course you can always support Vermont breweries by purchasing their wares at your favorite craft beer store!
