Sarah J. Butson focuses her practice on all avenues of employment and labor law. Sarah counsels employers on a myriad of employment law compliance and human resource issues including hiring, discipline, termination, reductions in force, wage and hour practices, investigations, and sexual harassment. She is an experienced litigator and has defended employers in complex class and collective actions and has represented employers in federal and state court and administrative tribunals in matters involving wrongful discharge, discrimination, and wage and hour disputes. Sarah was previously a Labor & Employment Associate with an international law firm in Boston, Massachusetts.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys hiking with her dog, snowshoeing, and playing tennis.

Experience
- Represented a client with a wage and hour complaint by and employee and received a favorable determination on investigation from the Vermont Department of Labor.
- Drafted severance agreements, employee communications and Department of Labor notices for clients during business restructurings.
- Assisted with negotiations of client’s initial collective bargaining agreement.
- Received a favorable determination in an arbitration proceeding upholding an employer’s termination of an employee for just cause.
