During a half-hour segment on Vermont Public Radio’s Vermont Edition, “A Legal Look at Traumatic Brain Injuries,” attorney Robert Luce discussed the challenges of proving mild traumatic brain injuries and convincing a jury that such injuries can have serious, lasting consequences.
He talked about how the attention being given to “mild” TBIs in veterans and athletes helps to meet these challenges, and he described recent advances both in the understanding of mild traumatic brain injury and the ability to diagnosis it.

Luce is chair of the Litigation Group at Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC and a board member of the Brain Injury Association of Vermont. For the last 20 years, he has represented plaintiffs in serious personal injury cases, focusing extensively on brain and spinal cord injuries. He is the conference chair for Representing Traumatic Brain Injury Victims: Legal and Medical Issues, a full-day conference sponsored by DRM, the Brain Injury Association of Vermont and the Vermont Association for Justice. The conference will be held Friday, March 30, at Main Street Landing in Burlington.
