Attorney David Carpenter has joined the northern New England law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC (DRM).
Before coming to DRM, David was the Vice President of Development and Chief Legal Officer for renewable energy developer Green Lantern Development, LLC, where he worked on a combination of transactional, regulatory, litigation, labor and employment, and IP matters for the company; managed a six-person project development division; served on the company’s Executive Team; and conducted business development efforts in markets across the US. He has worked in several law firms in Vermont, New York and Massachusetts, and also served as Associate General Counsel at Casella Waste Systems, Inc., where he developed significant expertise in environmental regulation and energy development associated with solid waste facilities. He brings over 25 years of experience in the business of law, and taught “Law as a Framework for Entrepreneurial Business” at the UVM Grossman School of Business. He also served as past Co-Chair of the Legislative & Policy Committee for Renewable Energy Vermont and is the current Chairman of the Orwell Volunteer Fire Department, where he has served as a firefighter for 12 years.

David obtained his J.D. and Masters of Studies in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School, and his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University. He is based in DRM’s Burlington office.
