Attorney Conor McKenzie has joined the northern New England law firm of Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC (DRM).
Conor comes to DRM with nearly 15 years of experience in advising businesses in a broad range of tax matters. He has advised domestic and multinational clients, including corporations and corporate groups, flow through entities and HNW individuals, on diverse tax issues. He has significant experience advising clients on state income and franchise taxes, and indirect taxes specifically related to nexus, apportionment, ruling requests, controversy and risk mitigation, tax legislative advisories, and tax operations and compliance. Conor also provides sophisticated tax planning advice on taxability, structuring, acquisitions and divestitures.

Conor joins DRM after most recently serving as Vice President of Taxation for Casella Waste Systems where he led the tax team, overseeing all aspects of corporate tax. Conor began his tax career as an associate at Deloitte, before spending close to 10 years in a specialty state and local tax practice at Ernst & Young in Boston, Massachusetts. Conor also clerked for the Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board and the Massachusetts Superior Court. He holds a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law. He is a Burlington-area native and resides in central Vermont with his wife and two children. He will be based in DRM’s Burlington office.
