Attorney David Sylvester Receives Inaugural Excellence in Action Award
Attorney David J. Sylvester, Director at the northern New England law firm of Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC (“DRM”) was honored with the firm’s first Excellence in Action Award. The award was presented at the firmwide holiday gathering on December 2, 2023.
“Clients First: You do exemplary work for a number of DRM’s most significant clients, and are always there when they need you,” reads an excerpt of the award presented to Sylvester at the event. “And you have also served the Firm with the same level of commitment as if it were a client.”
The intent of the award is to recognize an individual who exemplifies the firm’s Guiding Principles as nominated and voted on by DRM employees. “David truly embraces and lives our Guiding Principles,” said attorney Matthew Borick, chair of the Award Committee. “From client service to mentoring to leadership, David provides an example for us all to aspire and is so deserving of this award.”
Sylvester joined the firm in 1992 as an associate and was elected director in 1999. A key member of the firm’s Business Law group, Sylvester’s practice serves a variety of institutional clients in commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, secured financings and real estate and leasing arrangements. Applying his business acumen to the firm’s internal operations, Sylvester chaired the firm’s Business Law Group from 2010 to 2017 and served as Deputy Managing Director of the firm from 2018- 2023. The award acknowledges his commitment to the firm’s Guiding Principles of Clients First, Quality, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork, Mentoring and Community, by specifying examples of his excellence in each area.
