Practice Focus
Jennifer McDonald is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. She focuses her practice primarily in the area of general commercial litigation, including insurance coverage disputes and tort claims.
As a law student, Jennifer helped draft an amicus brief on behalf of the prevailing party in the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Vermont v. Brillon, 556 U.S. __ (2009). Jennifer's advocacy on behalf of the Vermont Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence joined the Bennington County State's Attorney's Office in successfully overturning the Vermont Supreme Court decision that favored the criminal defendant.
Jennifer worked as a legal intern in the Administrative Law and Trial Division of the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General. Prior to that, she worked as an intern in the Non-Profit Organizations/Public Charities Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office.
Professional Activities
Jennifer was editor-in-chief of the Vermont Journal of Environmental Law. She was selected for the National Moot Court Team after ranking in the top five oral and written advocates. She was also selected for inclusion in Who’s Who Among Students in American Law Schools in 2009, and she received the academic excellence award for Appellate Advocacy & Property.
As a Dean’s Fellow at Vermont Law School, Jennifer taught Legal Writing I to first-year law students.
Community Involvement
Jennifer has served as a member of the UVM Young Alumni Committee since 2004. She has participated twice in a 192-mile fundraising bike-a-thon across Massachusetts to fund research efforts at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Her interests include skiing, equestrianism, hiking and running.
