Zak represents employers in litigation involving a wide range of labor and employment disputes.
Prior to entering private practice, Zak served as an Assistant Attorney General with the North Dakota Office of the Attorney General in the Natural Resources and Native American Affairs Division, primarily representing the Department of Mineral Resources, among other state agencies. During law school, he interned with a small law firm in Crookston, Minnesota, gaining exposure to a wide swath of legal issues facing businesses and governmental entities in small towns and rural areas. He also has interned with the Burleigh County State’s Attorney, the North Dakota Legislative Council, and the Hon. Jason McCarthy of the Northeast Central Judicial District in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Zak’s prior experience representing state agencies in litigation before North Dakota state courts and administrative tribunals informs his strategies for representing Vermont and New Hampshire employers at DRM, with an eye towards effectively resolving claims through dispositive pre-trial motions and offers to settle on terms favorable to both parties.
