Legal IT specialist improving productivity through technology.
With the rapid changes in the delivery of legal service driven by technology and access, there are probably few jobs as fast-paced and complex as information technology director at a law firm. Our IT Director Karen Norman has been embedded in the delivery of technology in support of legal services for over 20 years, and she continuously expands her knowledge base by being an active member of professional IT groups and attending legal industry technology seminars and conferences.
As a director at DRM, Karen exemplifies the firm’s commitment to customer service. She and her staff of four full-time IT professionals manage all of our information technology infrastructure, including telecommunications, data storage, intranet and extranet systems, remote access, and mobile devices with patience and grace. When she’s not supporting great client work through technology, you can find her enjoying outdoor sports or working in her garden.

Karen provides daily support to the attorneys she and her team serve, but her most recent accomplishments include the following:
- Karen recently facilitated a technology assessment by Cornerstone.IT to confirm the firm’s technology is at par with industry standards and trends, and map out an action plan to meet the business goals.
- Karen and her team manage the firm’s metro area network linking five offices, with an infrastructure that leverages secure cloud applications allowing remote access from any Internet connection.
- To ensure Downs Rachlin Martin attorneys have support to maintain consistently high client-service levels, Karen engages a 24/7/365 help desk, with supervisory back-up by her team, and facilitates on-going training and support for all technology at the firm.
