One of Vermont’s leading attorneys on matters affecting title to real property with emphasis on common interest communities and land disputes
Real estate law attorney Andy Mikell has accumulated over 30 years of experience in commercial and residential real estate, including all aspects of title insurance, which he acquired in private practice and as Vermont State Manager for CATIC, a title insurance company. Andy has extensive experience with title insurance claims. He has testified as an expert witness in litigated property and legal malpractice matters. Additionally, he has presented hundreds of hours of CLE to attorneys, bankers and real estate agents. Andy’s experience extends to annual testimony in the Vermont Legislature on bills affecting real property including by example, ancient roads and enhanced life estate deeds. Andy’s experience include working closely with the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation on certain regulatory matters.
An active member, and former chair, of the Vermont Bar Association’s Real Property Committee, Andy also chaired the VBA’s Title Standards Committee for many years.
When not at work, Andy can be found on the ski slopes, on his mountain bike, or his tractor. An active member of his community, Andy has served stints on both the Williston School Board and the Select Board. He is currently chair of the town’s Board of Civil Authority and is a member, and past-president, of the Williston Rotary Club.

Experience
- After ten years in private practice with a concentration in real estate law, became State Manager and Title Counsel for CATIC’s title insurance operation in Vermont, managing an office of 7 employees and underwriting title insurance risk for 125 law offices around Vermont.
- Provided countless hours of Continuing Legal Education to attorneys and legal staff.
- Drafted and oversaw enactment of bills affecting real property.
