Harlow, McDonald and Win Elected Directors at DRM

(Burlington, Vt.) Three attorneys have been elected directors of Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC. F. David Harlow, an employment and labor attorney in the Brattleboro office, Jennifer E. McDonald, a litigator in the Burlington office, and J. Zaw Win, a captive insurance attorney in the Burlington office, were elected during the law firm’s annual meeting Dec. 16 in Burlington.

“This is an accomplished class of new directors who have made significant contributions to the firm and provided our clients with exceptional service,” said Managing Partner Peter B. Kunin. “We were very pleased to elect them as directors in the firm.”

Harlow, a native of Clarendon, Vt., joined DRM in 2014 after practicing at one of the largest labor and employment law firms in the country. He has substantial experience defending employers from claims brought under federal and state civil rights statutes. He regularly represents employers before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Labor. He also has substantial experience in ERISA benefits litigation. Harlow graduated from the University of Virginia and earned his law degree at the University of Arizona, cum laude. He was listed in New England Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2016 and 2017.

McDonald joined DRM in 2009 after law school and has tried cases to verdict in state and federal courts and represented clients on appeal in both the Vermont Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Her practice includes complex commercial matters and breach of contract actions, issues of federal preemption, and municipal litigation matters. She is also a personal injury attorney, regularly representing clients in mediation and the defense of personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and other tort claims. McDonald graduated from the University of Vermont and Vermont Law School, magna cum laude. She was listed in New England  Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2017.

Win joined DRM in 2014 after practicing in the business finance and restructuring group of a prominent law firm in New York City. Win advises clients on matters related to the organization, licensing, governance and operation of captive insurance companies, risk retention groups and other alternative risk transfer vehicles. He also advises clients on general corporate and commercial matters, including transactions, corporate governance, and restructurings. Win holds a bachelor’s degree from Lewis and Clark College, and a masters’ degree from The Johns Hopkins University. He graduated from Vermont Law School in 2008, magna cum laude.
