Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC (DRM) – one of Northern New England’s largest and most respected law firms – is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Clerk to join our collaborative accounting team located in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.
The Billing Clerk supports the firm’s accounting department by preparing client invoices, maintaining accurate billing records, and assisting attorneys with routine billing inquiries. This role focuses on timely, accurate processing of billing tasks and general accounting support, with the opportunity to grow into higher-level billing responsibilities as experience and proficiency develop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and edit client invoices under the direction of billing attorneys and the billing coordinator.
- Enter and update billing information in the firm’s accounting system.
- Verify client matter details and ensure correct coding of billing entries.
- Respond to attorney and client requests for billing information and account status.
- Handle confidential information with accuracy and discretion.
- Assist with additional accounting duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, associate degree is a plus.
- Experience with billing, bookkeeping, or administrative business areas (law firm experience is a plus).
- Familiarity with business software and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a steady volume of routine tasks.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and staff.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and strong numerical accuracy.

The expected pay range is $20.50 – $24.00 / hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
