Downs Rachlin Martin Announces Advancements

Burlington, VT: Attorneys Timothy C. Doherty, Jr. and Kevin C. McGrath have been named directors of the northern New England law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC.

They were elected at the firm’s year-end meeting on December 18, 2019 and became directors on January 1, 2020. Both Doherty and McGrath practice out of the firm’s Burlington, Vt. office.

Tim Doherty joined DRM in April 2017 as a member of its litigation practice group. He focuses on complex commercial litigation and was instrumental in forming DRM’s white collar defense and government enforcement practice group.  Before joining DRM, Tim served for a decade as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Vermont, prosecuting business crimes, including complicated mail, wire, and bank fraud matters, as well as multi-jurisdictional firearm and drug trafficking cases. Before entering public service, Tim was a litigator at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York, where he focused on white collar criminal defense and complex litigation. He is a 2003 graduate of Yale Law School. Tim lives in Burlington with his wife, Kate, and their three children.

Kevin McGrath joined DRM in March 2013 as a member of the firm’s intellectual property practice group. As a patent attorney, Kevin specializes in strategic counseling on utility and design patent portfolio development, licensing, and enforcement in the mechanical, electrical, and software technology areas. Before joining DRM, Kevin was a patent attorney at a law firm in Boston and before law school, Kevin worked as an engineer at Lockheed Martin Corporation, where he focused on various aspects of nuclear reactor power system design and development. Kevin holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering and graduated from George Washington University Law School in 2011. Kevin lives in Burlington with his wife, Larissa, and their two children.
