Marlboro, VT Balloon Test

AT&T balloon test scheduled for April 7, 2019

New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC (“AT&T”) is proposing a balloon test to be conducted on Sunday, April 7, 2019 on a parcel situated near Snow Mountain off of Route 9, Marlboro, VT, Parcel ID 287.200, on property owned by CMR Developments, LLC.

The purpose of the balloon test is to compare the relative visual impact of a new telecommunications tower and associated facility approved for a height of 120’ with a new proposed height of 140’. The reason for the additional height exploration is to optimize coverage from the facility for users of FirstNet, for AT&T customers, and to ensure opportunities for collocation by other carriers. The tower was approved at a height of 120’ in Vermont Public Utility Commission Docket 8325 by order dated August 9, 2014.

Balloons will be flown at the heights of 120’ and 140’ in order to produce photo simulations documenting the project’s relative visibility. The balloons will be flown from roughly 9 am until 1 pm, which time period may be shortened or lengthened depending on weather conditions.

Once completed, a viewshed map and photo simulations will be prepared documenting the project’s visibility, and posted on this website. If you have additional questions, please contact Simon Brighenti at 1-413-237-1550, or Will Dodge at 802-324-2114.
