Robert Luce to Moderate Panel on Trial Court Perspectives
(Burlington, VT) Attorney Robert B. Luce of Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC will moderate a panel comprised of distinguished Vermont trial court judges. The program, entitled “As Judges See it: Top Mistakes Attorneys Make in Civil Litigation” will be presented by the National Business Institute. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 at the Doubletree Hotel in So. Burlington.
Panelists from the Vermont trial courts will include the Hon. Timothy Tomasi, the Hon. Helen Toor, the Hon. Robert Bent and the Hon. Gregory Rainville. The judges combine many years of experience hearing civil litigation matters in courthouses throughout Vermont.
“This is a chance for trial lawyers to find out first-hand what judges care about,” Luce said, “and to benefit from the observations these judges make in the court room every day. For example, are they interested in legal briefs that discuss each point in great detail, or do they appreciate brevity. It is a perspective that many attorneys should have.”
Among the specific topics on the agenda are how to be most persuasive in written and oral advocacy and the most effective approaches to jury selection and trial presentation. Participants will also learn what things judges don’t want to see. While the program is intended for lawyers in Vermont and New Hampshire, non-lawyers are also welcome to attend. Continuing Legal Education credits are available. All participants must register and pay a fee. Interested persons can learn more by visiting the NBI web site.
