Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC (DRM) is expanding its Government and Public Affairs group with the addition of Nick Charyk, a strategic communications leader with more  than fifteen years of experience in Vermont policy, politics, and campaigns. His arrival strengthens the multi-practice firm’s capacity in principled storytelling, legislative strategy, and statewide public engagement as the 2026 legislative session gets underway.

Charyk’s work spans coalition building, lobbying, executive communication, earned and paid media, and narrative development. He is known for helping organizations to clearly articulate their values, build trust with stakeholders, and engage productively in policy conversations.

“Nick is driven by a belief that strategic advocacy and strong, values-based communication can create real public impact,” said Patti Komline, Director of Government & Public Affairs at DRM. “Our team prides itself on respecting the legislative process and building trusted, long-term relationships with policymakers, and Nick embodies that same approach. His background in campaigns, policy strategy, and public engagement expands our ability to help clients navigate complexity while meaningfully connecting with Vermonters. We are thrilled to welcome him to DRM.”

Charyk joins DRM after years working with state leaders, organizations, and coalitions to advance public policy priorities. He brings a deep understanding of Vermont’s political landscape and the communication strategies that shape outcomes both inside and outside the State House.

“Good policy doesn’t happen by chance. It takes clarity, collaboration, and communication that resonates,” said Nick Charyk. “DRM’s Government & Public Affairs team is uniquely positioned to help organizations meet those challenges, and I’m eager to support clients who are working to move Vermont forward.”

DRM’s Government & Public Affairs Group represents clients across a wide range of sectors on legislative, regulatory, and public communication matters. With Charyk’s addition, the team continues to grow its capacity to support mission-driven advocacy with disciplined strategy and effective storytelling.
