2018 Vermont Development Conference

Roy, Jaunich, Martin and Lenzini to speak

Roy, Jaunich, Martin, Lenzini to speak at 2018 Vermont Development Conference.

Downs Rachlin Martin is proud to be a platinum sponsor of the 2018 Vermont Development Conference. This event draws 300 development and real estate professional from across Vermont for a full day of networking, seminars and workshops. Four DRM attorneys will join panels to discuss key changes to the industry.

Chris Roy will solo the permitting and case law session. The fast-paced review of Vermont permitting decisions of note from the last year will also feature practical implications going forward.

Scott Jaunich and Trey Martin will team up with Brian Connaughton of VELCO for a discussion on how the conservation easement amendment process should work. When individuals and organizations work to protect ecologically important parcels with conservation easements, they have a reasonable expectation that those parcels will be protected in perpetuity. This session will explore the legal and public policy framework underlying conservations easements.

Shannon Lenzini will join attorney Drew Kervick of Dunkiel Saunders and Nick Grimley of Agency of Commerce and Community Development to discuss Opportunity Zones, a new community development tool meant to encourage long-term investment in low-income and rural communities. Attendees will learn the nuts and bolts of the Opportunity Zones program, including where zones are located in Vermont, as well as address some of the potential pitfalls and limitations of the program.

Special thanks to all of the organizers of this year's Vermont Development Conference, including our own Tim Sampson
