(Burlington, VT) Kevin Moriarty has rejoined Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC, of counsel. At DRM, Moriarty will resume his practice concentrating in captive insurance tax and regulatory issues working in the firm’s Burlington Office.

The Captive Insurance Practice Group at DRM represents more than 100 organized and operating single parent captive insurance companies, many risk retention groups and other alternative insurance mechanisms. Other attorneys associated with the practice include director Bruce C. Palmer of St. Johnsbury and associate David J. Angus II of Burlington. Tax attorney Wm. Roger Prescott and paralegal Marie L. McHenry also provide services within the practice. The firm provides all types of legal advice to captive insurance companies, including corporate, regulatory and tax advice as well as coverage, policy wording and claims counsel.
A 1993 graduate of Vermont Law School, Moriarty clerked for the Hon. Frederic W. Allen of the Vermont Supreme Court before coming to DRM in September 1994. While at DRM, he earned a masters degree in taxation from New York University. He left DRM in 2006 to take a position as assistant general counsel at the Vermont Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care Administration, and spent 2008 as an independent legal consultant in Salt Lake City, Utah.
