Kathleen H. Davis Recognized by Vermont Captive Insurance Association

August 29, 2007

(Burlington) Kathy Davis, an attorney at Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC (DRM), was recognized by the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) for “her career-long commitment to the growth and vitality of the captive insurance industry within the state of Vermont” at the opening session of the organization’s annual conference held in South Burlington earlier this month.

Davis has been at the forefront of the captive industry, having joined DRM in 1982 shortly after the Vermont Legislature provided the framework for captive formation. A leader in the industry, she has advised captive insurance companies on formation and operational issues for 25 years. She chairs the Captive Insurance Practice Group at DRM, and has served as the firm’s deputy managing partner and chief financial officer. Vermont is the largest U.S. captive domicile, second in the world in terms of assets and the third largest in number of licenses.

DRM, with more than 85 attorneys and legal professionals in seven offices in Vermont and New Hampshire, provides legal services to local, national and international clients in practice areas which include litigation, business law, labor and employment, captive insurance, environmental law, estate planning, family law, tax law, public utilities, real estate, health care, intellectual property, creditors rights, venture capital and insurance defense. It represents clients in legislative, regulatory and public affairs through the Government Affairs group. DRM is the law firm member for Vermont of Lex Mundi, the world's leading association of independent law firms.
