Three New Associates Join Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC

(Burlington) Three new associates have joined Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC (DRM). Charlotte B. Ancel, who is based in the firm’s Burlingtonoffice, and Elizabeth R. Wohl, in the Brattleboro office, are associates in DRM’s Litigation Practice Group. James H. Ferguson is an associate in the firm’s Burlington-based Intellectual Property Practice Group.

Charlotte AncelAncel graduated magna cum laude from Franklin Pierce Law Center in May 2007, where she finished first in her class and received the National Association of Women Lawyers award. She was editor-in-chief of the Pierce Law Review. Ancel served as a student law clerk for Associate Justice James E. Duggan of the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Ancel previously worked at DRM as a summer associate. Her analysis of a N.H. Supreme Court decision, "Claremont, Londonderry, and Beyond: The Problematic Definition of Adequate Education in New Hampshire," was recently published in the New Hampshire Bar Journal: Annual Survey of NH Law.


Elizabeth wohlWohl comes to DRM after serving as a law clerk to Vermont Supreme Court Justice Marilyn S. Skoglund and, before that, as a law clerk for Judge William F. Downes in U. S. District Court for the District of Wyoming. During law school, she was an intern with the Vermont Supreme Court, for Judge Hunter Patrick of the fifth judicial district in Wyoming and with another firm in Brattleboro. Wohl graduated magna cum laude from Vermont Law School in 2005. Ranked second in a class of 168, she served as an editor of Vermont Law Review. Her paper on comparative law and religious freedom won the 2005 Vermont Law ReviewBallenger-Green Paper Competition.


Jim FergusonFerguson is the firm's newest patent attorney. He graduated from Vermont Law School. While in law school, Ferguson worked as a summer legal intern for the Rutland County public defender in Rutland, Vt. He holds both doctorate and bachelor’s degrees in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. Ferguson brings more than 14 years of technical experience in the field of chemical engineering to his practice. Ferguson is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
