Selection to The Best Lawyers in America 2008 is determined by a vote among attorney peers.  According to the book’s introduction, “Because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be included, a listing in Best Lawyers is widely regarded within the legal profession as a signal honor, conferred on a lawyer by his or her peers. For 25 years, Best Lawyers lists have earned the respect of the profession, the media, and the public, as the most reliable, unbiased source of legal referrals anywhere.”

The selected DRM lawyers are cited for their work in particular legal fields.  They are Marshall, Van Oot, Schroeder and Ripley - Environmental Law;  Moody and Ode - Corporate Law and Mergers & Acquisitions Law; Prescott - Tax Law; Rachlin - Commercial Litigation, Medical Malpractice Law and Product Liability Litigation; Rachlin, Luce and Gallagher - Personal Injury Litigation; Robb and Sabalis - Labor and Employment Law; Schroeder and Wheeler - Real Estate Law; Marshall, Van Oot and Hayden - Energy Law; Meier - Intellectual Property Law; and Hollar - Government Relations Law.

The 2008 edition is the thirteenth edition of The Best Lawyers in America, and  is based on 1.8 million confidential evaluations by the top attorneys in the country.  Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.”
