(Burlington) Benjamin W. King, an attorney with the DRM Schoenberg Family Law Group, recently completed The Divorce Mediation Training at Woodbury College. By utilizing both mediation and the collaborative law approach in family and matrimonial law cases, King presents to clients an alternative to traditional litigation in divorce, custody, and support issues. King is also experienced in all other aspects of custody, visitation, paternity, spousal maintenance, and child support issues as well as the development of premarital, postnuptial, and marital settlement agreements.
Before joining DRM, King practiced family law with The King Law Offices and with Schoenberg & Associates in Burlington. A former deputy state's attorney in Caledonia, Essex and Orleans counties in Vermont, he prosecuted domestic violence and sexual assault cases. From 1992 to 2000, Ben King was a partner with his wife, Harriet H. King, in the firm of King and King, Attorneys at Law, in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he concentrated his practice in the areas of family/juvenile law, criminal defense, and civil litigation. King also has served as both child and parent advocate through the Allegheny County Bar Association. At present, he serves on the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington. King is also an owner of the Vermont Frost Heaves, Vermont's professional basketball team.
