In early 2008, the firm established the DRM Green Committee to identify and help implement environmentally friendly practices that create healthier workplaces for employees in all of our offices and that reduce the firm’s impact on the environment.

DRM is the first law firm to be designated a Vermont Business Environmental Partner.

In late 2008, DRM became the first law firm to be designated a Vermont Business Environmental Partner by meeting or exceeding the organization’s environmental standards such as:

• reducing paper consumption by encouraging double-sided printing, decreasing default margins and discouraging unnecessary printing

• eliminating the need to print and file paper copies by installing software that enables electronic document filing

• increasing the use of electronic invoicing

• using paper that is composed of at least 30 percent post-consumer-content for in-house printing and working to replace other paper products with post-consumer products

• utilizing single-stream recycling and providing convenient access to recycling bins

• working with Efficiency Vermont and property management to increase whole-building efficiency

• implementing procedures that reduce energy use

• reducing use of disposable products

• utilizing teleconferences and videoconferences to reduce travel between offices

• encouraging the use of sustainable cleaning products by cleaning crews

DRM is committed to seeking continuous improvements throughout our business operations to strengthen our environmental commitment, to further reduce our carbon footprint and to meet or exceed the requirements for similar environmental designations in New Hampshire.

Environmentally Preferable Products (EPP) Purchasing Policy

Downs Rachlin Martin shall give preference to suppliers whose products have environmentally-friendly attributes that maximize post-consumer recycled content, minimize toxicity and packaging, or have any other environmentally preferable attributes, with minimal sacrifice to price, quality, and delivery requirements.
