Practice Focus


Charlotte Ancel’s practice focus is on business and tort litigation, including breach of contract claims, tort claims, insurance coverage disputes and government enforcement actions. She has experience trying jury cases to verdict and prosecuting cases to judgment before the courts. In addition, Charlotte has prepared and argued briefs before state and federal courts.

Charlotte also assists in the representation of private businesses and public utilities in complex matters before the Vermont Public Service Board.

Significant Matters


 

  • Assisted in complex litigation arising out of the liquidation of a national insurance company
  • Assisted with the preparation of major dockets to secure Vermont Public Service Board approval of a public utility company’s electric transmission reliability upgrades
  • Pursued litigation on behalf of wireless telecommunications clients in state and federal courts in order to secure approvals for construction of facilities
  • Assisted in obtaining defendant’s verdict in personal injury lawsuit against a national supermarket chain


Professional Activities


Charlotte graduated first in her class from Franklin Pierce Law Center and received the National Association of Women Lawyers award. She served as editor-in-chief of Pierce Law Review.

While in law school, Charlotte served as law clerk for the Honorable James E. Duggan, Associate Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court.

Community Involvement


Charlotte is a member of the board of directors of the United Way of Chittenden County. She also sits on the board of directors of Champlain Community Services. Charlotte is a 2009 graduate of Leadership Champlain, a leadership development program sponsored by the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce.
