Practice Focus


Peter Kunin advises clients regarding all aspects of trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and computer law. He drafts and negotiates a broad range of trademark licenses, software license agreements and technology transfer agreements. He assists clients in resolving disputes related to ownership of intellectual property rights through settlement negotiations, mediation and, if necessary, litigation.

Professional Activities


Peter served as a judicial law clerk for Chief Judge James L. Oakes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, from 1991 to 1992.

Every year since 1996, Peter has taught trademark, copyright and trade secret law as an Adjunct Professor of Intellectual Property Law at Vermont Law School. 

He has served on the Meetings Committee of the International Trademark Association.

Peter has served as a mediator to settle intellectual property litigation for the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont’s Early Neutral Evaluation program.

Community Involvement


Peter is active in the United Way of Chittenden County. He served on the Charlotte Planning Commission.
