Education
Kim has received certificates from the Paralegal Institute in the areas of managing complex financial transactions, elements of corporate law, environmental law and litigation. In addition, she has attended numerous seminars sponsored by local and national associations on topics of real estate, due diligence and corporate/business entities.
Kim Gilding is a senior paralegal, having worked in the firm's St. Johnsbury office since 1985. She works closely with the firm’s commercial clients and their subsidiaries in providing quality and efficient service in commercial real estate acquisitions, developments, sales and financings.
Kim has provided close support to attorneys in complex financings that involved the granting of security in the United States and Canada, ski area acquisitions and developments, acquisitions of substantial tracts of timberlands in Vermont and New York and the granting of conservation easements on timberlands and farm lands. She coordinated and completed the closings of more than 400 former lease lot sales in northern Vermont and New Hampshire for a nationally known timber company. In addition, she assists the firm’s corporate clients with maintenance of corporate records.
Kim serves as paralegal workflow coordinator in the firm’s St. Johnsbury office and is a representative to the firm’s paralegal committee. In 2002, Kim received the firm’s Diane Lynch Distinguished Service Award (hyperlink). In receiving that award, she was described as seeking “always to do the very best job and to help those around you reach and exceed the highest standards of excellence.”
From 1987 to 2004, Kim served as the firm’s trust account manager providing an additional tier of oversight for the accounting department to ensure that all clients’ trust funds were handled in accordance with Vermont Rules of Professional Conduct.
Community Involvement
Kim was a member of the St. Johnsbury Zoning Board of Adjustment for nine years, acting as chairman of that board from 1995 through 2000. She served as a member of the St. Johnsbury Academy Alumni Council for nine years, acting as president for a two-year term. She also served as tri-chairman of the major gifts committee for "Just Imagine - The Campaign for St. Johnsbury Academy's Fine Arts Center." Kim also serves as a lector at St. John the Evangelist Church.
