Practice Focus
Jim Gallagher has represented both plaintiffs and defendants, but the bulk of his practice has been representing defendants in tort actions and commercial lawsuits. His product liability work has involved personal injuries and substantial property or business losses sustained in connection with farm equipment, motor vehicles, industrial machinery, building materials/products and consumer appliances, as well as losses related to building, engineering, product chemistry, ski equipment, timber harvesting equipment, electrical appliances, construction products, agricultural products and petrochemical contamination.
His personal injury negligence work has included cases associated with motor vehicles, premises defects, electrical appliances/facilities, liquor liability and industrial and agricultural activities. His professional liability cases have involved medical, engineering, architect, veterinary and legal practices.
Professional Activities
Jim is a past president and former member of the board of managers of the Vermont Bar Association. He currently serves as a trustee of the Vermont Bar Foundation. Jim also previously served on the board of trustees of Vermont Legal Aid.
Jim is listed in The Best Lawyers in America 2008 and receives Martindale-Hubbell's AV® peer rating, the highest rating attainable.
Community Involvement
Jim is a trustee and past president of the board of Lyndon Institute. He previously served on the board of trustees of Lyndon State College Foundation. Jim is currently the Endowment Chair and an Executive Board member of the Green Mountain Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
