As an intellectual property paralegal in the firm’s Burlington Office, April Hathaway assists the Intellectual Property Group with the preparation, filing and prosecution of patent and trademark applications and tends to the maintenance of issued patents and registered trademarks. April interacts with clients and attorneys to streamline the completion of formal documents, including declarations, assignments and powers of attorney. She handles correspondence concerning foreign application filings and formalities with respect to both patents and trademarks. April is responsible for monitoring and coordinating the payment of foreign patent annuities with clients, annuity services and foreign associates.
In addition, April is a docket manager, overseeing the docketing of all deadlines for both patents and trademarks, including incoming and outgoing correspondence with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and with foreign associates. She prepares monthly docket reports and monitors the status of all pending and issued patents and all pending and registered trademarks.
Community Involvement
April has actively participated in the Chittenden County Relay for Life for the past four years, helping to raise funds for the American Cancer Society as a member of Team O’Brien & Company.
